Nearly two-thirds of Republicans say they would likely leave party if Trump starts new one: Poll

A majority of Republican voters would likely join a new political party if former President Donald Trump starts one, a national survey of Republicans found.
Sixty-four percent of Republicans said they would be inclined toward joining a Trump-formed party like the “MAGA Party” or the “Patriot Party.” Among that figure, 32% said they would be very likely to join one. Thirty-six percent of respondents said they would be either somewhat or very unlikely to leave the GOP.
The survey was conducted among 340 registered Republicans between Jan. 28-29, with a margin of error of plus or minus 5.3 points.
Fifteen percent of Democrats and 28% of independents would be inclined to join the theoretical Trump-centered party, the poll found.
“These numbers show that despite the Capitol riots Trump remains a political force to be reckoned with,” said Dritan Nesho, CEO and chief pollster at HarrisX. “He benefits from a diverse base of support making up over a third of voters, voters who are attracted to him on a number of issues that are yet to be properly addressed by, and coopted by, Democratic and Republican elites.”
Of the voters surveyed, 37% said they would be likely to join a new political party started by the former president.
“If Trump were to split from the GOP and create his own party, polling suggests he might well create the second largest political party in the country, knocking the GOP down to third place,” Nesho said.
A hypothetical “Patriot Party” led by former President Donald Trump would win the support of almost a quarter — 23% — of the electorate, bumping the GOP down to third place with just 17%, according to a new Just the News poll with Scott Rasmussen.
The startling survey result comes amid reports that Senate Republican support for convicting Trump in an impeachment trial is fast eroding.
A Trump third party could provoke a pivotal realignment in American politics. With the support of 46% of registered voters in the new poll, Democrats would reap the benefits of a fractured opposition and entrench themselves as the nation’s dominant party — even without majority support.
Among “very conservative” voters — who make up a disproportionately large bloc within the Republican primary electorate — a Trump Patriot Party crushes the GOP 55%-24%. Should Trump remain in the GOP, his wide lead among these highly motivated voters affords him great leverage to influence the direction of the party by wielding the threat of conservative primary challenges against establishment Republicans ill at ease with the former president’s combative brew of conservatism infused with populism and nationalism.
Despite Trump’s outperformance in 2020 of recent GOP presidential candidates among minorities, African-American and Hispanic voters effectively split evenly between the GOP and a Patriot Party in the the new poll.

Unfortunately, it would be a struggle to overtake the Democratic stronghold in Washington, but not impossible.
The American people have had their fill of seeing our country run into the ground by horrible, anti-American policies, and it's only a matter of time before the Patriot Party becomes a force to be reckoned with.
President Trump is WINNING again!
Acquitted after another frivolous impeachment attempt.
He undoubtedly will be running for president again.
Lets make sure it's as the leader of the Patriot Party!
